Android phones exceed the BlackBerry

The multifunction phones running Google's Android system arenow the most sold in the United States, surpassing the Blackberry phones from Canadian manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM)said Monday the firm comScore study.

Google's Android system took first place in the U.S. for the first time with a market share of 31.2% over the three month periodfrom November to January inclusive, says comScore, which specializes in studies on the Internet .

RIM is pushed into second place with a market share of 30.4%,followed by Apple with 24.7%, Microsoft with 8.0% and 3.2% withPalm. 

According to comScore, 234 million Americans owned a mobile communications device in late January, which had 65.8 millionphone multifunction.
